They were chromed before I bought the car. I was told that the dealership that sold the car new had them chromed but I have no way to know for sure. If you look closely, you can see where they were polished before they were chromed. They will go on my wife's 2+2 when I get new rims.
Years ago, I asked an old guy that was a Porsche guru if you could put a 914 motor in a bug. I have applied his response to many situations since then......"Son, you could put a winshield wiper on a billy goats ass, but I don't know why you would want to".
